New cooler-weather Produce is available this week from LEILANI’S. Spinach and Collards are both making their first appearance this Fall! Green Beans and Purple Beans are also plentiful right now, and there’s still good quantities of Peppers on The Harvest. Check it out.

Maaybe the rain is finally over and we can get back to living. And eating. LEILANI’S can help with that with a fresh crop of fresh, crisp Green Beans, and for something a bit more exotic, try the Amethyst Purple Beans. You can prepare them just like regular Beans. Or combine them for a Bean Salad. Also added is the multi-colored Swiss Chard to join the green-leaf Peppermint Swiss Chard
BRADLEY’S has added Pumpkins to their Fall listings. These are “cooking” pumpkins which last a lot longer (and taste better) than regular “ornamental” pumpkins, and they’re less expensive, too. They also look very nice themselves as decorative accents. Check them out.

With the heat of summer gone and the first cooler weather of the season The Harvest is seeing a little more diversity. Here’s what’s happening:
LEILANI’S has some fresh offerings. New this week is Swiss Chard. Not only scrumptious in soups and salads, it’s great in Quiches, by itself with Gruyere cheese or combined with salmon. Gotta try this! Back on the menu this week is Green Beans, along with Lettuce, Salad Mix, Okra, and plenty of different Peppers.
Apeaking of Peppers I love LEILANI’S Sweet Banana Peppers with MY DAILY BREAD‘S ORGANIC VEGGIE CREAM CHEESE DIP. It’s a healthy and great-tasting low-cal snack.
New from MY DAILY BREAD are Gluten-Free offerings, with the intriguing Gluten-free Cheesecake Brownies to go along with delicious Gluten-Free Glorious Morning Muffins with organic apples, carrots, coconut and walnuts in a gluten-free muffin mix. Yum!

HI EVERYBODY!
Yes indeed, a Taste of Honey as we welcome BRADLEY FARMS back with their delicious locally harvested Honey in 3 different sizes. It’s not only yummy, it’s healthier than sugar, and it helps reduce susceptibility to local allergens by “inoculating” you through small doses in the honey (which is a great rational for using honey if you’re afraid of the calories!).
Restaurant Surprise: At a restaurant the other day I saw Okra served in a completely different way. Yes, it was battered and fried, but whole rather than cut in pieces. You ate it bu holding the stem, and they had a seasoned ranch dressing as a dipping sauce. Interesting.
Turning over a New Leaf: LEILANI’S has Leaf Greens in the form of Romaine Lettuce and Lettuce Salad Mix available this week. They also have tons of the afore-mentioned Okra plus lots of different Peppers including Red and Green Bells and Eggplant.

HOPE YOU’RE ENJOYING this amazing weather. It’s been so hot for so long that it’s hard to think we might be close to summer’s end. Need another sign? How about the first Fall Lettuce from LEILANI’S! Yes, the very first cool-weather crop for Fall 2015 is about to be harvested. Fresh, crisp Salada await!!
