I hope you survived our touch of winter last weekend. The Harvest is back for this week, and hopefully we won’t be beset with more inclement conditions!
We want to welcome back MY DAILY BREAD this week, with all the delicious Breads, Chocolate Zucchini Bread, Bagels, and so much more! LEILANI’S will have Cabbage, Baby Leeks, and Kohlrabi, FIVE HENS FARMS has their free-range Beef, Chicken, and Eggs, and there are other goodies hiding in the Market listing for this week. HI EVERYBODY!
January is here, and some cool-weather veggies are in the fields at LEILANI’S. This week Cabbage, Leeks, and Kohlrabi are on their menu. Incidentally, LEILANI’S is putting in a 3rd Cold-frame (unheated greenhouse) to go with their heated greenhouse, 1/2 acre field, and raised beds. Look for a much larger and more varied offering from them starting in March.
Elsewhere, FIVE HENS FARMS has both free-range Beef and Pork as well as a few Eggs (well, you try laying eggs in freezing weather!). There’s also Raw Milk, Honey, and other goodies. Take a look and see tickles your fancy.
Finally, I just heard that GRACE ACRES FARMS will have their delicious free-range Chicken available in April.

Hard to believe that Christmas is just over two weeks away (wow, does time zip by). Here’s a few things to take note of.
For Christmas parties, dinner parties, and entertaining, The Harvest has you covered. Let’s start with the entrees. FIVE HENS FARMS has local free-range Beef and Pork for your dinners and great-tasting Free-range Eggs for dish preparation.
MY DAILY BREAD has a full slate of Baked Goods and Prepared items. Besides Breads, Yeast Rolls, Cookies of all description and much more, they have superb Appetizers like their Beer-buzzed Cheese Dip and their Hot Pepper Peach cheese log which I think is fabulous. What they make is different and special and you can really liven up any occasion with their unique selections.

SEASON’S GREETINGS, EVERYONE!
THE DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST IS OPEN. HARD to believe Christmas is just around the corner. The Christmas season is often a time of searching to find the right gift, coming up with new appetizers, and so forth. Fortunately, the Dawson Harvest can be of some help.
For the coffee-lovers in your family JAVA GENESIS has a couple of Christmas blend Coffees blended just for the Holidays, great for breakfast and with desserts, which you can find in the Coffee section.
HANALEI BATH always has really neat, natural soaps, bath salts, essential oils, and lots more. Special Holiday offerings include their Rosemary Peppermint Body Soap and Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Soap, priced just right for teachers, friends, as stocking stuffers, and more.
MY DAILY BREAD has fantastic Prepared Foods like Cheese Logs and such. My particular favorite is their Hot Pepper Peach Cheese Log which is fabuloue with crackers. They’ve got other choices as well like their Beer-Buzzed Cheese Dip. I always get a couple of different and delicious items for something easy and quick to serve. Great Cookies and Desserts, too.
FIVE HENS FARMS has a great Christmas Ham Steak using the simple recipe in the Ham Steak item description. They also have a full slate of free-range Beef including Steaks, Ground Beef, Roasts, and much more. They’ve even got Fido covered with Beef Dog Bones in the Pet section.

Well, Thanksgiving is upon us and due to the Holiday weekend the Dawson Local Harvest will not be open this week. On a personal note Lei and I will be visiting my very elderly parents (90 and 87). I hope you’ll have a similar chance to be with your family and/or those you love and cherish (hoping they are not mutually exclusive).
The Harvest will be open every Friday in December until Christmas week. We’ll have lots of scrumptious goodies for you in December, so look for our email next Sunday.

FREE-RANGE BEEF and GREENS This Week!
HI GUYS!
I’m very excited to announce the advent of Free-range Beef from FIVE HENS FARMS. Check out their entire menu of locally-raised natural Beef including Steaks, ground Beef, Roasts, and other cuts, joining their Free-range Pork offerings.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner you still have time to make that homemade Pumpkin Pie. You can still get a wonderful cooking Pumpkin from BRADLEY FARMS for your Holiday celebrations.
FRESH PRODUCE: This is the last Market before Thanksgiving so get your greens now. Available this week from LEILANI’S is Spinach, Collard Greens, ‘Peppermint’ Chard, and two varieties of Kale.
SUPERB COLLARDS: Make excellent Collard Greens with this easy recipe: boil 4-5 cups water with the secret ingredient, a smoked turkey leg (at most grocery stores) and some Ham or Chicken bouillon for 1/2 hour. Remove the center stem from your Collard leaves and chop up the leaves somewhat. Lightly boil them a couple of hours until the liquid is mostly gone. Season to taste and it’s done and scrumptious!
