HI EVERYBODY
Hard to believe we’ve come through the heat of Summer and are on the cusp of Autumn. Cool-weather Vegetables like Broccoli and Cauliflower are already in the ground and growing. In the meantime there are plenty of wonderful goodies including fresh Muscadines which are truly delicious and will take you back to when you (and I) were young! Find them in the Fruit section.
We also have great-tasting vine-ripened local Tomatoes, superb fresh Okra, Purple Bush Beans, plus Peppers, Eggplent, and other yummy Veggies. Find these under the Vegetable heading.
And How About Some Grits! BACK IN TIME FARM has just added their 100% Organic Dayspring Farm Stone-ground Grits, 2 lbs. for just $6.00. I love grits and can’t wait to get my first bag.
Finally, our girl Friday Gina got one of CRAVE PIE STUDIOS’ Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie which she described as “heavenly” and “amazing”, then she started drooling everywhere (OK, I exaggerate a bit). She did say they are seriously yummy! In the Fresh Bakery section.

Just a few notes for mid-September: Baby Bok Choi from HEIRLOOM GARDENS joins the nice lineup of Vegetables for the Fall. Amethyst (purple) Bush Beans are in, taste great, look wonderful in salads or sauteed’. Poblano Peppers are delicious stuffed with sharp cheese, Mexican spiced ground beef, onions and tomatoes covered in more cheese and enchilada sauce. Okra, Eggplant, heirloom and traditional Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, Peppers and Mushrooms await your order!
Mango Madness Jun from CULTURED TRADITIONS is once again available, they have several varieties of Coconut Kefir listed, and don’t forget about taste treats like their Fermented Cherry Tomatoes and Happy Cucumbers or the many varieties of different Krauts you can sample. Also BACK IN TIME FARMS still has pastured non-GMO-fed Whole Chickens on The Market.

Lots available on The Market this week! First, Tomatoes from LEILANI’S are back, both Heirlooms and Ast. Hybrids. Tender green Okra is listed as well, joining Cucumbers, Squash, Green Beans, Purple Beans (Amethyst Bush Beans), Eggplant, and various Peppers.*
Figs are still available this week, and both ’Lion’s Mane’ & ‘Oyster’ Mushrooms are on The Market. Plus, Chicken & Chicken Sausage, Free-range Eggs, and raw Milk. Also back on The Market after an absence is CULTURED TRADITIONS Coconut Kefir in several 16 oz. versions. Please realize that it’s now in a pint bottle so you get more than you used to. BTW this Kefir is fabulous in smoothies and such. I like mine with Whey protein and milk. Yum!

On an Online Market like the Dawson Local Harvest it’s easy to just order the same ol’ things every week without noticing some of the other neat products that are innovative, all-natural and healthy alternatives to “regular stuff”. Here’s a couple of examples.
HANALEI BATH has a whole range of Bath and Beauty products using nothing but healthy essential oils, natural cleansing salts, shea butters and the like. Hand-crafted Body Soaps, Bath Salts, and Essential Oil Blends are just some of what they do.

They’ve just added Poblano Peppers and a Pepper Assortment, Baby Eggplant, a burgundy and green Okra mix, beautiful Heirloom Tomatoes and Cherry Tomatoes. It’s so great to have this big variety of healthy, delicious Vegetables available, so please take advantage of this abundance. It doesn’t get any better than this!

HI EVERYBODY!
Lots to Tell You About this week, with several New Arrivals in the past few Days! First of all HEIRLOOM GARDENS has added what I would call Gourmet Mushrooms, the kind difficult to find in stores, and certainly not local and naturally grown. Available right now, Oyster, Shiitake, and Lion’s Mane. I can’t wait to get these beauties into my kitchen!
Also NEW this week, delicious creations from CRAVE PIE STUDIOS. As the name implies, they do wonderful Pies like Chocolate Bourbon Pecan and Lemon Chess, sized right at 8 ounces, perfect for 2 (unless you’re greedy. Guilty!). Look for these in the Fresh Bakery section.
There’s also News on the Produce front. LEILANI’S has a crop of small, slender (and tender) “fingerling” Green Beans which are prepared whole. Really tasty stir-fried in olive oil and garlic with a touch of soy sauce, served as a side, even tender enough to be added to salad. These don’t last long, so if you’re interested, ORDER NOW.
Also ready now, Jalapeno Peppers, the first peppers ready now, plus Squash, Green Beans, and Cucumbers. Finally, available this week, Figs, all-natural and fresh-picked, if you have never tried them, believe me you don’t know what you’re missing!
